Background

We started working with the British Travel Awards [BTA] in 2001. Then the awards were a joint venture with Travel Trade Gazette and identified as the TTG British Travel Awards. Nominated companies were required to complete a questionnaire for review by a panel of industry experts [BTA Academy] who accorded 50% of the votes. Votes from people working in travel and tourism accounted for the balance with the combined results determining the winners.

In 2006 the BTA owners wished to take the awards in a new direction - as a consumer voted awards programme - and dissolved their association with TTG. Over the next few years the categories were a hybrid of BTA Academy and consumer voted awards. By 2013 the award categories evolved to become solely consumer voted.

From our small involvement back in 2001 - when the Image Refinery was engaged to design and produce the post awards night print collateral - our association with the BTA has developed and we are the official Creative and Operations Resource Partner. In this role we provide all behind-the-scenes design, administration and production services.

We are incredibly proud of our contribution over the years, participating in the strategic planning that evolved the awards from their trade origins to their positioning in the consumer market. Through its various incarnations we have maintained and developed the brand values and visual continuity. Our web developers created their online presence and it is our programmer’s proprietary code which drives the voting and survey database, voting analysis and authentication software.

The British Travel Awards is the largest and most influential poll of consumer opinion on the performance of companies operating in leisure travel and related sectors.
